Late Spring and early Summer were as busy as usual. I got to do some amazing things - roller coasters, a mountaintop beer garden, and my first real Summer festival! And, as always, some odd and random bits of Japan thrown in for good measure.

That's all for now! More to come soon. :)

We have been really, awfully, Terribly bad about keeping up with posting. I am going to attempt to remedy this. For now, you will get a few posts that will be very close together and full of older pictures as I attempt to bring us back in line with the actual year and what is currently going on.

FailAmy fails at updatingCollapse )

More updates to come soon. I promise! Much sooner than the last one anyway. <.<

Sorry!!!

I am here! I wish I had the time or energy to make a huge "here I am in Japan, finally" post, but that is just not the case. I have been working hard, as expected, and I am exhausted. I had a great first half-week and my kids lesson demo this afternoon. It was not perfect, but I expected it to be worse and everybody tells me it was good, so I am just going with that.

I have also had some great food so far, as expected. And I cuold practically marry the gyouza at the restaurant down the street from the Seminar House (also as expected).

I miss a lot of things, especially easy access to my friends through the internet and of course the babies and family and stuff, but I have to say &emdash; I am so happy.

I am not going to write more here until I have had some time to gather my thoughts (This was sort of an impromptu internet cafe visit) but I just wanted to check in with the internet and say I love you and I miss you!

Next week is adult class training, so we'll see how that goes.

Next time, Pictures! (I hope.)

This post will be a bit all over the place. :3 I still have summer pictures to post and the first batch of Autumn-y pictures as well! I figured I would just do them all at the same time. I want to get them all finished before next month when things get busy and there will inevitably be Many more things to share.

Onward!Collapse )

And that was a Massive update but that really is all for now. November and December are both filled with wonderful plans and I am really looking forward to them. :) I hope everyone else is having a splendid Autumn!

This is a good place to stop for now. The third part of the summer vacation post will be odds and ends! Yay, you must be thinking. How wonderfully specific! Well, I do my best. ;)

The days are finally starting to have a pleasant bite to them. The evenings are downright chilly, I have been leaving my sliding door open to enjoy the fresh night air for about a week now. Soon the leaves at Takao-san will start to change. All of these things mean the long-awaited onset of Autumn.

Which means that Summer vacation was a long time ago. <.< Which means I am very very overdue for an update. I am going to tackle this in three parts to make it more manageable.

This first part will include some pictures from my first official concert experience at the end of July through the first part of my summer vacation days in August.

Onward!Collapse )

This is a good place to break for the first part. The next segment will be Kamakura and Tokyo Dineyland! Stay tuned.

Things have been very busy lately, both work and personal time. I've had plans of some sort every weekend for the last few weeks. I've had the chance to do lots of fun and interesting things which generally means more pictures. I've been saving them up for a while. <.<

Onward!Collapse )

In not too much longer it will be summer vacation! Which will bring Pippa and nine days of sightseeing in and around Tokyo! Details to follow. XD

love you all! ♥

I haven't posted in a while but I haven't been doing all that much except the normal working, chores, hanging out at home routine stuff. I do however, now have enough random pictures saved up to justify an update. XD Be warned, most of this post is food.

onward!Collapse )

That's all that's been going on with me lately. XD More when I have more pictures and anecdotes!

On Tuesday, the second day of my three day trip I earmarked the whole day to go out to the island of Miyajima which is just off the coast near Hiroshima. Most of the reason I chose to go to Hiroshima was because I have wanted to visit this island and its famous shrine since I first saw pictures of it about 5 years ago. According to the bureau of Japanese tourism and popular opinion Miyajima is one of the three most scenic places in Japan. And since the other two have had more modern buildings built up around them many people consider Miyajima to be the most beautiful place in the country. I ended up taking about twice the number of pictures here than the rest of Hiroshima. <.<

Overall it was an amazing trip and I am really glad I chose to go there first. I felt like I was starting to see a few of the things that I came over here to experience. :) Unfortunately it's back to regular life now.

So for Golden Week vacation I took a short trip to Hiroshima! Honestly, I could have gone anywhere and I think a lot of people were surprised that I didn't pick a more common destination like Osaka or Kyoto. Truth is I have wanted to go to Hiroshima since I first saw a picture of the sea shrine at Miyajima about five years ago. Not to mention the city has a considerable amount of historical import in and of itself.

It's really strange, actually. If you say Hiroshima to an American probably the first (and maybe only) thing they are going to think is: oh yes, one of the cities that we bombed. Here Hiroshima is really just another Japanese city. While it still has the history of the atomic bombings attached to the name, it is much less the entirety of what the city means in Japan.
